Host Families Needed for 2012-2013

My name is John Vogelpohl and I help with the “Youth Exchange Program” for the Hilliard Rotary Club.  Being involved in Youth Exchange, as a five time Host Parent and as Counselor for many more students has been one of the most important things I have done in my life.  It changed how my family and I view the world in ways we never imagined.  The critical factor that the program lives or dies by is great volunteer HOST FAMILIES.  I balance the need to inform and recruit with brevity for the remainder of this message.  Rotary International, through Rotarians, works to achieve “Peace Through Understanding” in the world.  Student Exchanges are the focal program to achieve that.  The kids return to their home countries changed; our kids return to the USA changed, and then they act to change perceptions and stereotypes in their host and home communities.  The only evidence I offer is the fact that my (now 27 year old) daughter told me about ten years ago that the most important thing I did in her upraising was to open our home to these exchange kids.  Help change a kid.  Help change your high school and Hilliard.  Help change the world.  Host a kid from the world’s premier program, Rotary.  Commitments are for a three month hosting; the club pays the child an allowance, but there is no stipend for the host household.  If you are interested or have questions, please call John Vogelpohl at, 878-2314 (h), or 582-9438 (c).
